Chalet Bartavelle Meribel – Both Luxury and Privacy

Location – Chalet Bartavelle Meribel

The Chalet Bartavelle Meribel is set in the quiet, peaceful and generally rustic Le Cruet French community. Meribel is actually just five minutes away, and owners of the chalet provide, as part of the package, two transfers to the main ski lifts in Meribel. That’s pretty convenient as you don’t have to lug all your equipment around as you go about your adventure. There is also a blue piste that runs behind the chalet and one can ski back to the chalet on it if they want.

Description – Chalet Bartavelle Meribel

All the rooms up in the chalet have precise personalities that offer a distinct community feel. The chalet is just about 10mins walk from the small town of Les Allues which has regional stores and great dining establishments. The chalet owners are always happy to take visitors in and around Meribel after dinner if they so desire, but they’ll have to get back to the chalet on their own.

The Chalet Bartavelle Meribel provides a cosy place to relax and delight in the dazzling sights of Le Cruet. It was initially a barn, but in 1974, it was changed to a ski chalet. In 2002 it was renovated to high standards that befit a class chalet, and still another round of renovations was done in recent years to the same effect. Eight to ten guests can comfortably stay at the chalet at any given time.

Layout

The whole chalet takes up 3 floors. The ground floor has a big double bedroom that’s perfect as a family room. This is because it can accommodate an additional single bed and a baby cot. There is a private bathroom and a living area with TV plus sky free view.

The first floor has a large living and dining room, and contains a log fireplace. There are nice and comfortable chairs in here that provide a place to just sit back and relax after a long day of adventure on the mountain.

There are 3 bedrooms up on the second floor plus a twin mezzanine, not to mention two bathrooms that can be shared. Two of the bedrooms are doubles and one’s a twin.

The main living room of the Chalet Bartavelle Meribel has all the amenities for good entertainment, including a stereo system with CD and an attachment for an MP3 player. A generous supply of games and books is also there for great afternoon and evening fun. There is access to Wi-Fi high speed internet too.

The balcony, living room and bedrooms all provide truly breathtaking views of the valley down below and Meribel up the mountain. A heated ski room outside comes in handy for drying boots and other outdoor clothing as well as to store skis and prams. The ski room also does a good job of storing golf bags and bikes during the summer.

There is a large terrace at the chalet with barbeque and garden furniture. It provides beautiful scenery with dazzling views from one side of the building and from the balcony that’s on the other side.

Food

The food is nothing but superb and that’s thanks to a proprietor who’s also an ex west-end professional chef. Good meals are considered a big part of your adventurous holiday and they never disappoint at the Chalet Bartavelle Meribel. The chef has more than twenty years of cooking experience, and has worked in France, Australia and in some of the best restaurants in London, such as the Oxo Tower Dining establishment, Goring Resort and Harvey Nichols Fifth Floor dining establishment.

Even though the owners do present an established menu, they understand the differences in preference and thus pride themselves in ensuring that there are always superb meals for everyone. Everybody is taken into consideration here, from those with special nutritional needs, like vegetarians, to those with particular allergies and food intolerances. Information about such unique dietary needs has to be provided by the guest beforehand for an enjoyable stay.

At a glance, the Chalet Bartavelle Meribel starts you off with a hearty morning meal that is healthy, balanced and full of choices. When you come back in the afternoon after a cool day at the mountains, you will be welcomed to afternoon tea accompanied by an assortment of home baked biscuits and cakes.

At about 19:30, drinks and a variety of canapés are offered by the fireplace just to wet your appetite for dinner. Dinner consists of three premium courses that are beautifully balanced and painstakingly prepared with fresh supplies. It is served with selected red and white wines, all having the category appellation controlee. The canapés and dinners are served for six nights only.
