The Hotel Le Strato Courchevel 1850 can be summarized in one word, stylish. While touring around the Courchevel 1850 locality, it is customary for one to come across hotels that are themed around luxurious living. However, the Strato has more to offer.
In addition to being classy, the Strato boasts of a unique design. The hotel reminds you of a country house with its noticeable fire places and chairs whose luxurious allure beckons. The hotel’s designers had the idea in mind of creating a hiding place within the mountains. They achieved this and went even further.
How it all started – Hotel Le Strato Courchevel 1850
In 1965, Laurent Boix-Vives came up with the idea of putting up a ski resort. Laurent was an ardent skiing sportsman. During this time, he was the leader of the skiing team, Rossignol. During his sporting career, Laurent put up exciting performances that left millions of fans in awe. It is this sporting spirit that inspired Laurent Boix-Vives to construct the Hotel.
Decor specifics – Hotel Le Strato Courchevel 1850
The hotel’s decor consists of antiques and modern works of art. Some of these were specifically made by highly celebrated craftsmen. The end result is an assortment that brings together comfort and the sporting element.
Most of this highly sophisticated interior décor work is credited to Aime Cecil and Pierre Dubois. The two are behind “Les Heritiers,” a highly acclaimed designer label. The end result is what one can simply call elegant. Lighting is subdued.
The use of alternating colours cannot go without mention. The designers opted to use grey, mocha, blond and beige. On the brighter side, they have combined this with splashes of vibrant colours such as silver, orange and violet.
There are 25 elegantly designed suites. Each has got sufficient brightness from natural light. Every room overlooks the valley below and there is either a terrace or balcony. The suites design incorporates bow windows. These allow guests to catch a view of the magnificent mountains surrounding the hotel.
What the Hotel Le Strato Courchevel 1850 designers wanted to achieve was different decorations for every room. This was meant to create the mood of being in a residential area. Bottom line is that there is comfort and generous use of space all round.
In every suite, there are spacious bathrooms. Inside the bathroom are television sets that have been cleverly hidden behind a screen mirror. Whether one chooses to stay at the deluxe, family or snow level, the design is tailor-made to suit all.
The Hotel Le Strato Courchevel 1850 boasts of having the services of renowned chef, Jean-André Charial. He is a highly decorated chef, and more importantly, his award-winning team works with him at Hotel.
The menu is authentically Mediterranean. Occasionally, Jean-André Charial throws in a little inspiration from the mountains. Some of his best choices include Alaskan giant crabs, sea urchins from Galicia, truffle and turbot. For desserts, Jean-André Charial’s pastry chef remakes Mont Blanc’s classical menus.
The hotel’s spa covers 800 square meters and is centrally located. From here, one has a spectacular mountain view. To get to the spa, there is a lift whose doors open up to another world of décor. The spa consists of a Jacuzzi, steam room and two saunas. There is also a heated swimming pool above which a Murano glass chandelier overhangs.
The hotel’s fitness room is well-equipped for a healthy workout as one enjoys views of the surrounding mountains.
