Grande Sassière is four minutes’ walk up a private road from the valley floor, another minute from the bus stop, twelve in all from the centre.

Larry is a nine-seater Land Rover, available exclusively to run guests from Grande and Petite Sassière to or from any point they wish in Val d’Isère between 8.30 and 10.30am, and between 3.30 and 8.00pm.

Grande Sassière in Val d’Isere is a beautiful, spacious building set in peaceful tranquility.

The chalet has the most amazing sitting-dining room in Val d’Isère; it is large and lovely with expanses of parquet and panelling and massive roof beams. The south wall is solid glass. 

The hot tub on the large terrace is the real McCoy – massaging jets, underwater lighting, waterfall! More importantly, it has 24/7 filtering, and ozone purification as well as the usual chemical disinfection, so its water is as pure as a mountain spring.

Proper Breakfast:

Fruit juice, porridge, cereals, bacon, eggs, baguettes straight from the famous local bakery, a croissant or pain au chocolat, yogurts, British tea and fresh coffee from Italian espresso pots.

Afternoon Cakes:

You return from the slopes to find bread and jam, a freshly-baked cake, hot chocolate, etc. left out for you.

Dinner:

The best cuts of meat and the best fresh fruit and vegetables.
Nightly canapés are followed by a three-course, fixed-menu, dinner-party-style meal.
The cuisine is largely French, though with a fusion of other influences.
With dinner, unlimited quantities of a selection of very drinkable French AOC wines and vins de pays.
Wine list from which you can buy everything from slightly smarter wines to Châteaux Lafite-Rothschild or d’Yquem. 

Grande Sassière has six excellent bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.

Four have the same view south, one looks west, and one has to make do with small windows looking up a mere square mile or so of mountain.

There’s the seven-person hot tub on the large terrace to the side of the chalet. There are Crocs and fluffy white robes to help you get from your bedroom to the hot tub.
