March Ski Holidays

With clearer skies and mild sunshine, March ski holidays are probably the best as they offer stunning views of the mountains and you can really appreciate the scenery.

When you compare March to other months, you’ll realise that it offers value for money and the skiing experience at its optimum; peak December is extremely expensive, January can be super cold, February is overwhelmingly busy and so is the Easter period.

Here are a few reasons why March ski holidays are amazing:

  • It’s off-season in March – despite the fact that March offers fantastic ski conditions it doesn’t have major national/international holidays as in December or at Easter plus there are usually no school breaks. For these reasons, it’s an off-season period which means the holidays are cheaper and you have a wide range of options when it comes to selecting resorts as well as accommodation.
  • The slopes are calmer and the lift queues shorter – resorts are less booked up and this means you can enjoy blissful slopes without crowds. The mountains are gloriously quiet and you get to enjoy freshly groomed slopes each morning.
  • Perfect time to learn the skill – now, if you’re just starting out, there is more lessons availability plus sufficient space on the slopes where you can get a hang of the newly acquired skill.
  • Lifts are open for longer – if you’re not a morning person, this part will definitely warm your heart. As the days are longer, the lifts stay open for a little longer and this gives you more time to explore the slopes. If you don’t like the idea of hitting the mountains early in the morning, you can always ski from noon till dusk.
  • Parties and events – if you’re a party animal then March should be your skiing month of choice. It marks the start of the awesome end of season parties and events. For instance, in Meribel ski resort, the piste Bash Festival (a week-long festival that attracts entertaining events) takes place every March.

March skiing offers a wide and diverse choice of accommodations, holiday styles as well as a budget to suit everyone. Whether you prefer a high-end and luxurious hotel, enchanting and cosy chalets or rustic private rentals you’ll find one that caters to your needs.

Of course, not a lot of people have the luxury of going on a ski getaway outside of the official school holidays. But if you’re in a position to do it then it’s highly recommended to give this ideal skiing month a go.
