Pretty traditional village which is part of the huge Valloire ski domain since 1974. Well structured and easy to acccess the pistes from practically any accommodation. Lots of snow thanks to its altitude and protection from its surrounding valleys.

Valmeinier shares it ski domain with the more famous station of Valloire and is the biggest of the ski domains inside the Maurienne region. The resort can be found at 1800m with skiing possible between 1500m to 2600m on 150km of pistes.

With slopes around 2500 metres, skiing fun is generally possible from the start until the end of the season.

There are several airports within a two hours drive, so ski holidays to Valmeinier are easily done. Chambery Airport is only one hour away, in good driving conditions, so accessing the skiing is quickly possible.

Skiing in Valmeinier

Beginners

Beginners can appreciate the approachable pistes around Valmeinier. There are 22 green runs and 24 blue pistes.

Intermediates

The slopes are well looked after and the choice of pistes makes Valmeinier an excellent option for intermediate skiers and boarders. With 24 blue and 30 red pistes, there is enough to make sure everyone is satisfied the whole week.

Advanced

The pistes are limited to only 9 black slopes; some of them are genuine blacks, others are closer to red runs. The most difficult slopes are those following the trees, which is perfect for those bad weather days.
