Known locally as Le Mas de la Coutettaz, The Farmhouse in Morzine, built in 1771 is one of the most well established chalets in Morzine as well as being the oldest building in the town and was originally owned by the prominent Baud family.

For over 20 years it has been their pleasure to welcome guests from all over the globe many of whom have become good friends.

The owners desire has always been to provide a professional yet friendly and fun environment where you can make your stay your own, be that a week long party or a calm and relaxing break away from home.

The bar itself is the heart of the building and was used as the kitchen in days gone by with the kitchen staff cooking family meals over the large open fireplace. The impressive slate floor is covered with comfortable furniture in front of the fire so that you can relax after a hard day on the mountain.

The bar, like the restaurant, is open to residents and those who are looking for places to eat in Morzine. It is open until 1am each night and the music collection is vast and varied! If the mood suits we push back the sofas and the dance floor is ready! There is occasionally live music from local artists, and sometimes classical or jazz for a more relaxed evening. The evenings begin here with canapƩs and an aperitif before dinner.

There is a large range of drinks available behind the bar to ensure that all tastes are satisfied but if there is something else that you fancy – then do not hesitate to ask!

There is a wonderful wine cellar downstairs and a varied wine list available behind the bar.

Just off the bar is a relaxing sitting room with plenty of games to keep the whole family entertained, also a well stocked library with an eclectic choice of books.

There is also a TV with satellite as well as a large selection of Videos and DVD’s.

The Corner Room:

This spacious king size bedroom, with its superb views over Super Morzine, Avoriaz and ā€˜The Pleney’ was quite possibly one of the original bedrooms in The Farmhouse.

The Corner room a delightful double room in the main Farmhouse building with a king size bed and a lovely en-suite bathroom. It is ideal for a couple and also for a family as it can comfortably sleep up to four people with two children in bunk beds.

The Blue Room:

This stunning room with a king size bed would have originally been the main living room for the family as it is from this room that all others could have been accessed. Although the room is not in fact blue, the name dates back to the original owners and we decided to keep it.

Often booked for honeymoons and romantic stays the Blue room has an en-suite Victorian style bathroom and overlooks the old town square and church with a view towards Avoriaz and the Ressachaux mountain range.

The room is large enough to have an extra single bed in if necessary.

The Family Suite:

These beautiful rooms were some of the original bedrooms in the main building and were most likely used by the master of the house.

This suite comprises two adjoining bedrooms. The outer room has a king size bed with views onto the Old town square and Church and the inner room has two single beds with a view towards Nyon overlooking the Farmhouse garden. Each room is sufficiently large to add extra beds. The outer room a single bed and the inner room a single bed or bunk beds. So both rooms can sleep a group or family of 7.

The suite has an en-suite bath and shower room with separate loo. There is also a shower room just down the hall that can be used by this room.

The Old Kitchen:

This lovely room in the main Farmhouse building was part of The Farmhouse stables until 1901. It was later used as the kitchen to take the place of the traditional cooking area (the open fire!) in the original main living room. This bright room with a king size bed, has a very sunny disposition and faces the impressive ā€˜Roc d’Enfer’ in the distance. It has a Victorian style en-suite bathroom with plenty of character. The Old Kitchen can be configured as a double, twin or triple room.

The Grange:

This is one of the stunning rooms completed in December 2011. As you come up the stairs in the main building and turn right into the corridor, you will see where we cut through the stone wall to create access from within The Farmhouse, as this was originally the Old Barn. The Grange, with under floor heating throughout, is a very spacious double room with a king size bed, sumptuous carpet and a balcony over looking the garden with stunning views of the mountains. The luxurious bathroom has a sunken bath and large walk in shower. The Grange can also have an extra single bed added if required.

India:

This lovely room with under floor heating throughout, was created in November 2011 and was inspired by a visit Dorrien and Di made to India in the same year. As you come up the stairs in the main building and turn right into the corridor, you will see where we cut through the stone wall to create access from within The Farmhouse, as this was originally the Old Barn. The deep red bathroom houses a large walk in shower. India has dark wooden floors , a king size bed and a beautiful Indian colour scheme throughout.

Out on the balcony which overlooks the garden there are beautiful views up towards Avoriaz and the mountain ranges beyond. The India room can also have an extra single bed added if required.

The Cell:

Once Morzine’s only Prison Cell. During the last war, this room was used by the occupying Germans to house recaptured P.O.W’s, members of ā€˜the Resistance’ and the like. Evidence can still be seen of the bars on the windows. The en-suite Victorian bathroom is particularly cosy and perfect for a post mountain soak. The window faces out onto the garden and the old water trough.

This room may have originally been a parlour or tack room. The alcoves used to look into the stables next door, now the Dining Room, to allow the family to keep a close eye on their livelihood, the cattle, then underneath here was the cheese cellar. This room can be configured as a twin or double.

The Atelier:

This spectacular room was originally a carpenter’s workshop full of lovely old wooden tools and a traditional workbench which now serves as the breakfast buffet table! This wood beamed room spans the top floor of the Barn. From the garden, its private entrance and wooden staircase open into a spacious, light and luxurious bedroom. There is an open plan bathroom area with an antique roll top bath and working marble washstand. The loo and wash hand basin are in a separate room. There are windows on every side with stunning views and two doors onto a south-facing balcony.

This room can also comfortably have a single bed added if necessary.

Cottage 1:

Situated in the Farmhouse garden, Cottage 1 is a cosy double with en-suite shower room. In summer, guests staying in this room can languish lazily just outside in the sun and enjoy morning tea or an evening aperitif at the garden table.

This room was once the site of Morzine’s only cobbler’s shop and had a number of old tools and instruments in it until recently. Many of the villages’ residents used to have to visit The Farmhouse regularly in order to fix their precious shoes and leather goods.

Cottage 2:

What we now call Cottage 2 was once where the harvest of apples and pears were kept and then later became the workers’ quarters. The workers also lived next door in Cottage 1 which was previously the village cobbler’s shop.

One of the most popular rooms in the garden with old pine beams and a double aspect, this sunny room faces towards the Mazot and the water trough with direct access onto the lawn. This room has a large double bed. The en-suite bathroom is perfect for a relaxing soak after a hard day on the mountain.

The Mazot:

This is another popular honeymoon room; originally used to store valuables such as the family Bible, house deeds, best Sunday clothes and the seed for the following years harvest! Set in the far corner of the garden this double room gives its guests complete privacy in a perfectly romantic setting. The en-suite shower room is exquisitely designed in slate colours and chrome.

The Mazot also has a small mezzanine where a single bed can be made up for an extra person (this is only suitable for a child).
