Portes Du Soleil Circuit – With over 650km of groomed slopes and thrilling pistes, Porte Du Soleil is one of the largest ski areas in the world – so vast that it merges the French and Switzerland slopes. Obviously, such an extensive ski area will have some magnificent routes to enjoy and one of these which is the most renowned of all is Porte Du Soleil Circuit.
Portes Du Soleil circuit crosses the borders between Switzerland and France, giving you a short glimpse into the 12 resorts that make up the ski area all in one day. The route doesn’t include some small villages and resorts like Les Gets but it comes pretty close to giving you a feel of how it would be to ski in those areas.
In addition to unbeatable skiing experience, the Porte Du Soleil circuit boasts some of the most awe-inspiring views on the French and Swiss Alps including Lake Geneva and the majestic Dents du Midi mountain range.
To get started on the loop, you have three options, if you can make it to the Chaux Fleurie chairlift which is in the Linderets bowl. You can start your adventure on the Porte Du Soleil circuit from Ardent, Prodains or Super Morzine.

To successfully ski the loop, you need to be comfortable with tackling red and blue runs with varying conditions. For this reason, this may not the best option for a family day out especially if your kids are young. It takes roughly 6 hours excluding the time you’ll spend during lunch and coffee stops.
So, if you want to escape the crowds, have a heart-throbbing adventure and take in some astounding views, then the loop will be ideal. It’s important to note that you need a full Portes Du Soleil ski pass to enjoy the whole circuit otherwise you might be required to buy a pass at Chatel to continue with the loop or a pass back to Morzine.
Generally, skiing in Porte Du Soleil comes unrivalled. Hundreds of kilometres offer skiers limitless options from groomed runs to off-piste terrain, there is more than enough for a week of stay. The varied terrain caters to all skiing abilities from pro skiers to novices.
The range of options for accommodation is also mind-blowing. There is a huge selection to fit every need, budget or taste and they come with a competitive price tag since there are a lot of choices.
